What is the Curriculum?

The curriculum is the means by which the school achieves its objective of educating children in the knowledge, skills and understanding that they need in order to lead fulfilling lives. It is all the planned activities that we organise in order to promote learning, personal growth and development. As well as the formal requirements of the National Curriculum, it also includes a wide variety of extra-curricular activities organised to enrich the experience of the children. We believe that in order for children to learn, activities need to be engaging and enjoyable, with opportunities for them to make discoveries and test out their own ideas, within a safe environment.

We aim to teach children how to grow into independent, self-confident and responsible adults, who will be able to achieve their true potential.

We believe that all pupils are of equal value, regardless of their sex, race, ability or background. We aim to ensure that all have access to the National Curriculum and appropriate access to the resources and opportunities available at Cavalry Primary School.

We have clear identification and assessment procedures that enable us to identify pupils with special needs. The teaching is carefully matched to their needs and we use professional support services and consult regularly with parents about the provision for their child. The school has all facilities required to accommodate most children with physical disabilities and is happy to discuss any individual cases with parents.
