We've had a fabulous visit with Oliver's Mummy and Daddy who are both paramedics. Steph and Dan brought the ambulance with them for the children to explore. We found out what is in the back of the ambulance and how to turn the blue lights on! Back in Nursery we learnt what to do in an emergency and had lots of time with Steph and Dan roll playing being a paramedic. Nursery would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Steph and Dan for their time and sharing their expertise!
We really enjoyed welcoming parents and carers into Nursery this week for our Easter bonnet workshops. The children clearly really enjoyed their special task with their special adults and we all had so much fun. A big thank you to all who came! We can't wait to see the children wearing their bonnets next week for our Easter sing-along!
Spring is finally on its way! What signs of spring have you seen? We have noticed the blossom on the trees, the lighter evenings and Mrs Bates has found the first frogspawn in her pond! I wonder what will happen to it? Don't forget to ask us what we have noticed as it grows and changes!
Have you read the story The Colour Monster? Do you know what it feels like to feel happiness, sadness, fear, anger, love and many more emotions? The little colour monster is having a hard time, as his feelings are all jumbled up. He is red, green, yellow, blue and black, all at the same time. We have been exploring feelings through the story The Colour Monster. We have created our own colour monsters whilst we talked about feelings and we have a space to go to to explore how else we might be feeling.
We read the story ‘Whatever Next’ and used our subitising skills to observe groupings of stars in the story. The children built their own spaceships using loose parts outside and counted backwards ready to launch off on their adventures! We became scientists for a day, experimenting making fizzy stars and going on a moon rock hunt in the garden. The children investigated new techniques, painting with acrylic paint and sprinkling with grated crayons to create artwork based on Van Gogh’s Starry Night. They looked fabulous when melted in the oven.
Our Nursery children have settled really well into Nursery life. They have had a busy two weeks, playing in the water tray with gutter ramps, making playdough ice creams, going on the bus to the beach and relaxing with lots of stories. What an exciting start to the Autumn term!
When it rains heavily and there's puddles in your nursery playground, you've just got to jump, sit and SPLASH!
