Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! I hope everyone has enjoyed the break over Christmas and welcome back at the start of the new term.

Breakfast Club and Stay & Play are open every day as usual. Other clubs and activities will start up again next week and further information will follow about any changes.

As we return to school, there are a number of positive cases of Covid amongst staff and pupils at Cavalry. Please read the attached letter from Cambridgeshire's Director of Education and Director of Public Health for further advice about recent changes to the government guidance. In school we will continue to take extra steps to minimise the risks of transmission including:
- washing/sanitising hands at regular intervals through out the day
- additional cleaning of shared toilet areas and desks
- staff wearing masks in communal areas and using lateral flow tests twice per week
- keeping visitors to a minimum
- keeping classrooms well ventilated by opening doors and windows at regular intervals

Increased ventilation combined with winter weather means that it is sometimes cooler than usual in the classrooms. Children are welcome to bring in an extra sweatshirt or fleece in addition to their usual school uniform, preferably in a plain dark colour.

Our one way systems will continue to be in use at the start and end of the day. Please be aware of others around you who may be waiting to drop off or collect their child - if you need to have an extended conversation with the teacher please request a phone call later in the day so that we can avoid queues at the classroom doors. We really appreciate all parents sticking to the designated routes.

We have set provisional dates for parent consultation appointments for children in school - Monday 7th March and Tuesday 8th March. We will make a decision nearer to the time about whether to offer face to face appointments or hold all meetings by phone, but I thought you might like to add those dates to your calendar.

Kind regards
