Our Year 4 cafe followed the world book day theme of ‘share a million stories’. We started the morning by sharing a favorite class story with all the adults and children. In class 9 we heard The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka and in class 10 we heard Greta and the Giants by Zoe Tucker.
We then discussed why reading is important and came up with lots of ideas. These included: it’s fun, it creates happy memories, it helps you learn new vocabulary, it helps you connect with friends and family and it helps us to relax.
After this, we moved on to making our super special corner bookmarks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEwl0fvqo18) which was much easier than making our origami seagulls in our 1st cafe (much to the adults delight!). We took inspiration for our bookmarks from our favorite characters as well as our class reader, Charlotte’s Web by E B. White.
As you can see from the pictures, everybody had a great time and the bookmarks look absolutely fabulous! We hope that everybody will help to share a million stories with the people around them throughout the year!
