Stibbington Day 1 - Class 7

What a perfect day for a residential trip! The sun was shining and there was great excitement as we arrived this morning, unpacked and explored the nature and environment of Stibbington.
We had some lunch and completed our afternoon Geography activity looking at the weather including learning more about the wind, temperature and solar power. We then made our own wind turbines and used hand movements to understand the water cycle. There's so much to learn about our environment and energy sources!

We have now just had dinner, filled in some of our eco passports and are having a little play before movie and shower time. What a fabulous first day! I wonder what adventures we will have tomorrow? Check back for updates!

Stibbington Day 1 - Class 8

All children were settled down in bed and fast asleep quickly after a very tiring day. The children learnt all about solar and wind power, discussing great ways to help the environment.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed all the food today and they ended the evening with a shower and a movie. Everybody was ready for another exciting day at Stibbington in the morning.
Stibbington Day 2 - Class 7

After a good night's sleep we had some yummy breakfast and then completed our morning activity.
We went pond dipping this morning where we looked at a variety of minibeasts. We then played a "What am I?" game - where we had to choose a minibeast and describe it using riddles without giving away the name of it. Our friends then had to guess what it was. Some of these were quite tricky but it was good fun!
After that, we completed poetry activities linked our pond dipping morning. We then had some eco time where we recycled, measured the wind and watered plants. We made animals out of the things we found in our environment such as sticks, leaves and flowers.
We are now going to have a camp fire and will be roasting some marshmallows before our evening shower, supper and bed time. We have some tired looking faces this evening! We hope you enjoy our photographs from today, pictures of the campfire will follow tomorrow!

Stibbington Day 2 - Class 8

Everyone was up and ready for another exciting day and a yummy breakfast after their good night's sleep. Activities started at 9:30am after the children had had a little play.

This morning we have had a wonderful time pond dipping.  We found lots of interest creatures and had a go at identifying them.  We then wrote and performed a Mini-Beast riddle, for the other groups to guess.
After a quick snack and run around, we then went on a scavenger hunt for a variety of leaves, flowers and twigs.  We used these as inspiration for a lovely, woodland poem, which we performed for the class. After that, we went on a mini-beast hunt and had a great time examining the creatures under a micro-scope.
Now we are enjoying our pizza lunch, before heading out for our afternoon arts and crafts session.

More updates will follow tomorrow.
Stibbington Day 3 - Class 7
We had a very good night and a delicious breakfast this morning. We are now being crime scene investigators solving the mystery of who stole a treasure chest! Class 8 are going to LOVE it here!

Stibbington Day 3 - Class 8
This morning the children all had a lie in (until 7am!), then were excited to start their final activity of the trip.  We have been using our scientific skills to solve the mystery of a missing treasure box.  Luckily it was found and the chocolate treasure was enjoyed by all.
We enjoyed our lunch, before visiting the gift shop and getting ready to leave for home.
